One of Jordan’s greatest strengths lies in his ability to create rich and nuanced characters, and Knife of Dreams showcases this talent flawlessly. Familiar faces become even more complex, and new characters are introduced seamlessly into the narrative. Every protagonist and antagonist motivations and struggles come through with flying colors.
It was a great reprieve from what felt like a bit of a slog in the previous two novels in the series. As Robert Jordan’s final book in the series (with Sanderson taking over to finish the series after Jordan’s death), I was extremely pleased with how he finished. Also, is that one character that loses their hand a Star Wars reference?
