The Gathering Storm: Book Twelve of the Wheel of Time by Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan

The Gathering Storm: Book Twelve of ‘The Wheel of Time’ by Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan

Blurbos Rating (5)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Gathering Storm is a fast-paced and exciting read, with plenty of action, suspense, and intrigue. Sanderson does an excellent job of capturing Jordan’s style, and he brings new energy and momentum to the series. There were a few areas where I felt like I could tell I was reading a Sanderson book vs a Robert Jordan book, mostly in the dialogue, but it never brought me out of it. Overall, Sanderson did a masterful job here.

This book had some of my favorite scenes in the series, including a scene between Verin and Egwene, and the entire ending section at the White Tower. Amazing pacing, and I overall thoroughly enjoyed The Gathering Storm.

Lidrin had learned one of the bitter lessons of warfare: winning didn’t necessarily mean living. And following orders often didn’t mean either winning or living.

There were streaks of white in Alivia’s hair, and she was just a bit taller than Nynaeve. That white in her hair was telling—any white or gray on a woman who wielded the One Power meant age. A great deal of it. Alivia claimed to be four centuries old.
